Welcome to Manor Line Ranch.
Since I was a kid, I have treasured the opportunities to learn new skills, to spend time with family, to build and fix things, and to see a tangible result from hard work on my family farm. I didn’t expect to be a farmer, though. My professional training was in geospatial intelligence – I was a map maker and analyst – but when the opportunity arose in 2010 to move back to the Shenandoah Valley to find ways to preserve and protect my family’s farm from future development and to share those experiences with others – It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
One of my first goals on the farm was to develop the beef program that would become the first of the Manor Line Ranch projects. Following my grandparents’ example, I raise polyculture grass-fed, ethically raised beef, lamb, goat, and pork with no antibiotics or added hormones, and you can now enjoy our products at several local restaurants as well as ordering it directly from our farm or our restaurant, Manor Line Market, on Main Street in Front Royal.
Since 2012 I have also been raising honey bees, growing herbs, and planting fruit trees, grape vines, hop bines, and berries both to sell and in preparation for opening a farm winery and brewery. That project is taking a little longer than I’d like, but the extra time is letting us make sure we grow in ways that preserve the experience of living in Browntown for us and our neighbors. We’re also working towards opening event spaces and campgrounds so we can expand the variety of educational programs, weddings, and other community events we can host, so keep checking back for updates, or join our mailing list or follow us on facebook, and we’ll keep you connected to what’s going on at the farm.
